University of Massachusetts Boston - Department of Applied Linguistics Full-time Non-Tenure Track Lecturer Specializing in Multilingual Teacher Education Job Description The Applied Linguistics Department at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position starting September 1 st , 2025. ( The lecturer will teach three graduate courses per semester and provide extensive service and mentoring related to the ESL Licensure. ( Required Qualifications: A doctoral degree (or candidacy) in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Curriculum and Instruction, or a similar field. A minimum of two years of experience teaching graduate-level courses. Experience working in K-12 ELL instruction and/or teacher education for K-12 ELL instructors. Experience providing professional development to pre-service and in-service teachers. Knowledge of MA DESE regulations. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities ESL Licensure Coordinator Serve as liaison between the Department and DESE. Review DESE standards regularly to ensure licensure track compliance. Establish and maintain partnerships with schools to provide placement opportunities for APLING students. Review student applications for Pre-Practicum and Practicum, and secure site placements. Present at least one Licensure information session per semester. Maintain and update the Licensure Handbook. Advise students seeking licensure endorsement and coordinate with the licensure endorsement officer. Pre-Practicum and Practicum Instructor and Site Observer Serve as liaison with local schools for practicum internships. Complete site observations and provide feedback to student teachers.
